Media Support Services

AUGUST UPDATE

OverDrive
LGCA is excited to announce that we have been working with OverDrive to put together the LGCA Virtual Library, a collection of eBooks and Audiobooks for students in grades K-12. These resources are INCLUDED for any district/building using the LGCA Media Support Services and will include several hundred titles purchased each year that can be accessed by all participating schools. We will be holding a launch meeting here at the Auburn Technical Center on Thursday August 23rd from 8:30am to 11:30am. For registration: Click Here  We will be sending out access information and training materials to all participating districts in the coming weeks. Our collection will be launched using OverDrive's new Sora website and app, designed by OverDrive specifically for students and teachers. You can explore Sora before the meeting online at Meet Sora.

LGCA Technical & Administrative Professional Development

LGCA Technical & Administrative Professional Development is now INCLUDED for any districts/buildings using our Media Support Services. We understand the importance of providing you and your staff quality professional development opportunities and realize the expense, time and money, it takes on a district. As a result, LGCA is offering PD to your district personnel. These PD offerings will be delivered throughout the year with additional opportunities being added based on feedback.

Sessions range from 1 to 6 hours and will be delivered at the Auburn Technical Learning Center (LGCA) or via Webex. Trainings can cover individual tools/products like Chromebooks or Google Classroom or they can cover topics/ideas like using technology to support a flipped classroom or PBL. Don’t see something? This session will provide a checklist for tasks needed to be completed before the start of school. We will review the checklist along with any additional questions from Users within the districts/buildings. Intended audience would be Campus System Admin, Building Secretaries and other support staff as well as EMIS Coordindators.

G Suite for Education is in the school! You may have attended PD, but you want more training and practice! Let's go slow in this series of sessions. Spend extended time on each of these apps: Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Classroom. Learn tips and tricks to make Google work for you and your students.  This session will cover the entering of students, people, staff and addresses in Campus.  Utilizing the Census Wizard to build the primary household.  Also adding emergency contacts and non-household contacts.  The target audience would be District Registrars, Building Secretaries and other support staff as deemed necessary.

New for FY19 - LGCA Student Focus Calls will be conducted each month on the 2nd Tuesday of the month LGCA via WebEx.
